American Gateways
Protecting immigrants and refugees
Our work starts by understanding our audiences and tailoring messaging and materials to reach the most people.
For nearly 40 years, American Gateways has championed the dignity and human rights of immigrants, refugees, and survivors of persecution, torture, conflict, and human trafficking through free immigration legal services.
Since 2021, we have helped these advocates shine a light on abuses at detention centers, family separation, and denial of basic rights. We have also helped keep community members informed via social media channels and community news outlets so they know their rights in an ever-changing political landscape.
Case Study 2:
Commission Shift
Oil and gas industry reform and transparency
We got involved at the beginning to help Commission Shift plan and execute a big public launch.
This innovative nonprofit works to transform the Texas oil and gas agency by working with and for the people of Texas to create pathways for shared governance.
From building a website to writing content and pitching media, we helped get this organization off the ground with a splash. Then we stuck around to help them publicize research and analysis and get information to key decision makers.
We loved supporting these feisty, data-driven Texans as they worked inside and outside the public agency’s process to push for healthier people and cleaner air, water and land.

Education Trust in Texas
Public and higher education that helps all students thrive
We got on board early with the Texas office of the national powerhouse Education Trust.
We crafted a communications plan to help map out audiences and goals. Then we introduced EdTrust in Texas to media outlets and officials, guiding communications strategy through several Texas legislative sessions.
We helped navigate correspondence with the national office while centering the needs and experiences of Texas students, educators, and officials.
As an organization focused on data and outcomes, EdTrust provided valuable information that needed to get to the right people in the right formats at the right times.
